Opening on November 26th 2004, The Wales Millennium Centre is undoubtedly
the most exciting cultural initiative happening in Europe today. The massive,
imposing building will stand alongside the leading cultural centres in the world.
Its chief executive Judith Isherwood is the former chief executive of the Sydney Opera House.
The Wales Millennium Centre is a magnificent structure, faced in Welsh slate and wood.
The WMC will not only be a world leading performing arts and destination venue;
its features also include retail shops, a 3D cinema, restaurants and extensive
educational facilities.
A key feature within the WMC is the facilities for school children.
The residential centre based inside the centre has the ability to accommodate
groups of 150 students at a time and it is planned that over 10,000 school children
will visit the centre each year.
As well as en-suite bedrooms the amenities also include: teaching rooms,
classrooms, a student lounge, a refectory and a function hall.
The CELTiC Summer School will be held within the WMC during August 2005.
